GOALS:
- To help ease the transition of incoming Maaori students from highschool to university.
- To help immerse tauira Maaori in the values & principles of te ao Maaori.
- Encourage more engagement between Te Roopuu Maaori & tauira Maaori.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Be acting Tumuaki in the absence of the Tumuaki;
- Carry out any other duty that from time to time, may be defined by Te Rito and/or the Tumuaki;
- Liaise with Ngā Rōpū on campus, chair monthly Ngā Rōpū hui;
- Facilitate the running and organisation of Te Huinga Tauira with the Events and Social Officer;
- Facilitate the running and organisation of events during Orientation Week and Re-Orientation week with support from the Events and Social Officer;
- Facilitate the running of the Inter-Rōpū Shield with the support from the Communications Officer;
- Facilitate the organisation of Te Haerenga with support from the Tumuaki and Apiha Matauranga Māori. Form Te Haerenga Komiti;
- Support the Apiha Hauora with organising a charity event during the year.
- Support the Apiha Matauranga Māori with organising one study retreat per semester;
- To initiate contact with the Halls of Residence regarding services and events provided by Te Rito/Te Rōpū and to follow up with a visit/visits throughout the year;
- Sit on the OUSA Policy Committee;
- Set policies with the Tumuaki regarding matters of business and activities and all operations of Te Rōpū;
- Where practical, will work no less than 15 hours per week, with a minimum of 5 hours designated to ‘Office Hours’;
- The Tumuaki Tuarua will be listed as a ‘beneficial owner’ on Te Rōpū Māori bank accounts;
- Attendance at Te Huinga Tauira is compulsory unless there are extenuating circumstances that are approved through a vote in a Te Rito Hui.
