GRANTS APPLICATION

Te Rōpū Māori is fortunate to have a Grants Fund to support our tauira Māori at the University of Otago with financial assistance for academic related costs and personal emergencies such as tangihanga.

Te Rōpū Māori supports and encourages education for Māori students and aim to cater to their cultural, academic and social needs. We especially want to support Māori students who can be great role models for other Māori students at Otago University. If you are wishing to attend a National or International seminar/conference that will help you develop as a Māori academic and/or young professional, or if it contributes towards your degree, but you need financial assistance, we may be able to help you.

In the case of personal emergencies such as tangihanga we understand as students that it can be very stressful both financially and emotionally to have to travel so suddenly. If such a case does present itself Te Rōpū Māori would be able to financially assist you not only to support you but your whānau as well.

Application Process:

Te Rito work hard to process applications as quickly as possible. As Te Rito meet on a fortnightly basis, we can usually respond within 2-4 weeks of receiving a completed application. If you are applying for an event, seminar or conference, please apply well in advance of the event you are wanting funding for (at least 6 weeks before), otherwise your application may not be processed in time, and you may not receive any funding for your event.

It is important you fill in the Individual Grants Application form correctly and include all the information we need. That way, we can consider your application quickly and efficiently. To find the Individual Grants Application form, go to DOCUMENTS in the menu and click on TRM DOCUMENTS which will lead to a folder which contains the form.
