Mauri ora e te whānau, ko Maioha Ohia ahau. He pāpaka o Rangataua, he tukemata o Kahungunu, he raukura o Te Ātiawa. Flourishing in te ao Māori, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing the beauty and fruitfulness of our culture, oh boy is it beautiful! This is what I hope to share with Te Rōpū Māori as Āpiha Mātauranga Māori for 2022.

Coming down to Dunedin I found a space filled with passionate and giving people, that’s when I knew I had found my kāinga rua with TRM, most definitely my saving grace. As Āpiha Mātauranga Māori I hope to encourage a space where people can seek refuge, gain academic support and explore their Māoritanga. Doitz!

Gemella Reynolds-Hatem

Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa

E aku nui, e aku rahi, naia ka mihi kia koutou katoa.

Kia ora e te whānau, I am your Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa/Events & Social Officer for 2022. In my role I aspire to go above and beyond, and provide a safe and fun space for our Tauira Māori through different events that will suit each need of our tauira. Being apart of Te Rōpū Māori has helped me grow mentally, but has awhi me towards a stronger grounding in Te Ao Māori and it is time to give back. It is my time to give to our people and to build connections amongst our tauira so we can go through university together as one big whānau.

Waiho i te toipoto, Kaua i te toiroa.

Reheko 2022!
